Zip Drive- Iomega Zip100 USB
This was my Zip drive. I gave it to my dad because I rarely require the extra 100 mb. I'll often just write a cd instead.
I bought this at office OfficeMax for $75.38 March 25, 2001
It is made by Iomega
My dad bought one of these a few years ago. It was a parallel port one and it sucked. It wsa slow and eventually broke due to 'the click of death' as did many of the first generation drives did. It is now colleting dust. My dad has several of these disks however and Clark College has them as well. My plan was to download old time radio mp3s onto these disks at Clark ( because they have a fast internet connection). Using these disks also help transfer large files that take too long to make into a RW CD or that will be changed frequently (like a program or something). Technology has given me the USB connection for these and they are so much quicker than their predecesors. Plus installation is a snap! Once I get to many disks I just take 6 of these and make them into a CD! Pretty neat, huh?
Problems: I strongly do not recommend a parallel port Zip Drive. They are too much of a hassle and are slow. I'd rather get a 250mb Drive myself because they have all sorts of other features plus are able to read 100mb disks. My only complaint of this zipdrive was the supercharged eject of the disks. The disk came flying out and sometimes fell onto the floor.
Oh and I din't have any yellow disks like it shows above. I had four green ones and two this color.
