Costume Purchases
Last week I saw this sign down the street for a vintage sale on 5/22. I thought it was a church or something so I checked it out yesterday morning.
Man oh man. What a jackpot! I just wish I’d gotten there right at the beginning. People were buying racks and racks of stuff. It was pretty ridiculous.
The things I was specifically looking for I couldn’t find in my size. Most 20s/30s suit jackets weren’t long enough in the arms for me, and I didn’t see any futuristic looking stuff.
I bought $98.50 worth of stuff that includes:
Some sort of egyptian looking robe used by 20th Century fox (dated 9/52!)
A Wizard cloak (but I have to sew the shoulder back on, you’ll see John wearing this soon)
Coat jacket with tails!
two 50s looking short sleeved shirts (one black, the other green)
50s US army uniform shirt
two polyester shirts
70s shirt with bright designs on it!
tattered shirt muslin, good for a prisoner in a dungeon or something
2 long white one piece robes.. good for peasants
yellow vest
brown onesie outfit for like a deer or something (already has a deer tail)
white onesie for a donkey or rabit (a donkey tail attached)
2 doctors jackets
renaissance vest
HATS (which were like $2-3 a piece)
Three wizard hats
two elf hats (one maroon, other grey)
two arabian hats
one arabian hat with a neck covering
three cowboy hats
two bowler types of hats
two head coverings where the face is the only thing that shows through- one orange, other black
So fun!
I recognized LOTS of swing dancers there. They were all buying vintage clothing of course. I also realized that I am a VERY big fan of vintage girls. There were SO MANY PRETTY GIRLS all dressed in vintage attire.. It was incredible. Oh future wife, I know you are out there wearing something awesome.
So I now have LOTS of fun stuff to use for the children’s show, and now I just have to figure out where I’m going to store everything!! My closet is PACKED!
