Focusing

June 13th, 2010 - 12:18 PM

I realized this morning that I’m still focusing on all my weaknesses. The list goes on and on. I know a lot of people are like me, I seem to think that all I have to do is write down some sort of a plan and all of those things I don’t like about myself will be righted.

This only leads to anger at myself when I am fail to accomplish my self-prescribed goals. These feelings have been stopping me from reaching my true potential.. from becoming who God wants me to be.

I leave for Spain on Thursday, and I pray that I will come to terms with all of those fears that have been holding me back.

The first week we will be talking about our strengths. I know my strengths: Learner, Restorative, Individualization, Futuristic, and Context. I will soon be focusing on those strengths and excelling exponentially. I’ve already started working on changing my life to be more in tune with those strengths.

I know that it will only be a matter of time before my life will turn into what could be..

the future is breathtaking. = )

Editing

May 30th, 2010 - 9:07 AM

Yesterday I spent several hours editing the video together for the party. I had hoped to do some more TRKS stuff, but FCP 6 won’t allow you to edit while rendering (7 does though). This is another reason it would be nice to have two computers. I could have one do the transcoding and other heavy lifting and do editing on the other.

Anyway, the point is that editing takes a long time. I really don’t enjoy it all that much, because it eats TONS of hours away. However, it is a necessity if I am going to tape my own stuff.

I figure that every moment I spend time editing it just makes me faster for when it really matters.

It takes the most time when I:
– have to fix audio or video problems (remedied by better capturing or lower standards)
– taking time to search for free video background clips or sounds or pictures. I probably should invest in some royalty free collections.

I have to work today at 1, and I still need to edit the videos I did with Daryl and the ones with Sierra.

Even though editing and taking photos can be a real pain, they are a gift to my friends. Everyone loved the videos last night, and the best is yet to come as I spotlight my friend’s talents. = )

Costume Purchases

May 23rd, 2010 - 10:52 AM

Last week I saw this sign down the street for a vintage sale on 5/22. I thought it was a church or something so I checked it out yesterday morning.

Man oh man. What a jackpot! I just wish I’d gotten there right at the beginning. People were buying racks and racks of stuff. It was pretty ridiculous.

The things I was specifically looking for I couldn’t find in my size. Most 20s/30s suit jackets weren’t long enough in the arms for me, and I didn’t see any futuristic looking stuff.

I bought $98.50 worth of stuff that includes:

Some sort of egyptian looking robe used by 20th Century fox (dated 9/52!)
A Wizard cloak (but I have to sew the shoulder back on, you’ll see John wearing this soon)
Coat jacket with tails!
two 50s looking short sleeved shirts (one black, the other green)
50s US army uniform shirt
two polyester shirts
70s shirt with bright designs on it!
tattered shirt muslin, good for a prisoner in a dungeon or something
2 long white one piece robes.. good for peasants
yellow vest
brown onesie outfit for like a deer or something (already has a deer tail)
white onesie for a donkey or rabit (a donkey tail attached)
2 doctors jackets
renaissance vest

HATS (which were like $2-3 a piece)

Three wizard hats
two elf hats (one maroon, other grey)
two arabian hats
one arabian hat with a neck covering
three cowboy hats
two bowler types of hats
two head coverings where the face is the only thing that shows through- one orange, other black

So fun!

I recognized LOTS of swing dancers there. They were all buying vintage clothing of course. I also realized that I am a VERY big fan of vintage girls. There were SO MANY PRETTY GIRLS all dressed in vintage attire.. It was incredible. Oh future wife, I know you are out there wearing something awesome.

So I now have LOTS of fun stuff to use for the children’s show, and now I just have to figure out where I’m going to store everything!! My closet is PACKED!
