#60 – Buy Video Camera

Notes: I don’t know what it is about cameras, but I tend to do a LOT of research on them. Especially if I buy them online.

I think I’m over having tapes. The convinience of having the footage already encoded is really interesting. Plus if I was on vacation too long and needed to download the footage- I’d probably take my computer.

I’d HAVE to get something that is durable, super small, and works on a mac. It would be nice if it somehow could use the same lenses as a DSLR camera.. I wonder if Canons do this..

4/23/09- I bought a HF11 Canon camera.. but returned it. It used a file format that had to be converted to be seen on the mac. Plus it did this in real time. At least with a tape I was able to see the footage as it came in. Plus the quality wasn’t as good as I wanted. Tapes are a hassle, but at least there isn’t worry of which format to use. Perhaps I’ll revisit this later when I get a camera that FCP can understand natively.
